Many of us working in the private sector need some extra cash during the 21-day coronavirus lockdown? To help the salaried class and worker class tide over the economic crisis during the complete shutdown, the Employees’ Provident Fund Organisation (EPFO) has now made the highly-contagious pandemic another reason to allow subscribers withdraw funds from their UAN accounts.  To avail benefits of non-refundable advance under the sub-para (3) of Para 68L which has come into force from (28.03.2020). The EPFO in its order said that employees would be allowed to withdraw 75% of his fund or three months’ salary (whichever is lower) as advance from the provident fund account after one month of unemployment and keep its account with the EPFO active. “This announcement, I expect, will benefit 4.8 crore workers, who are registered with the EPF, and therefore will be in a position to withdraw the money,” Finance Minister.

An Eligibility to file an online claim for the purpose “Outbreak of pandemic (COVID-19)”

EPF withdrawal claims can be made online. Here’s how to do it

1. UAN should be activated.
2. Verified Aadhaar should be linked with UAN
3. Bank Account with IFSC code should be seeded with UAN
B Eligible Amount Up to 75% of PF balance (Employee share and Employer Share) or 3 months PF wages or the claimed
amount by the member whichever is the least.

1. Login to Member Interface of Unified Portal
(https://unifiedportal-mem.epfindia.gov.in/memberinterface)
2. Go to Online Services>>Claim(Form-31,19,10C & 10D)
3. Enter last 4 digits of your Bank Account and verify
4. Click on “Proceed For Online Claim”
5. Select PF Advance (Form 31) from the drop-down
6. Select purpose as “Outbreak of pandemic (COVID-19)” from the drop-down
7. Enter amount required and Upload scanned copy of the cheque and enter your address
8. Click on “Get Aadhaar OTP”
9. Enter the OTP received on Aadhaar linked mobile.
10. The claim is submitted.

After providing all the details, you also have to provide a scanned copy of your cheque and certify all the details mentioned are correct.

PF amount will be credited to the account within 10 days of approval.

The withdrawal process becomes simpler and less time-consuming if you have your Aadhaar number with you. Here is how you can initiate the withdrawal for both, with and without Aadhaar.

If you do not have an Aadhaar, but have the PF number, use form – Composite Claim Form (Non-Aadhaar).
